One Tech Engineering is searching for a Transmission Safety Consultant for a position located in Minot, North Dakota. The Transmission Safety Consultant provides field-based safety leadership and oversight for high-voltage electric transmission construction, maintenance, and upgrade projects.
The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have previous electrical utility transmission safety experience.
Transmission Safety Consultant Responsibilities:
- Support development and review of transmission project safety plans.
- Assist with contractor onboarding, safety orientation, and safety expectations.
- Review and verify Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), tailboards, and daily job briefings.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 1910.269, NESC, company safety requirements.
- Provide on-site field safety leadership during transmission construction and maintenance activities.
- Conducting job brief observations and field safety audits.
- Performing routine safety walkdowns.
- Serving as the primary safety liaison between utility leadership, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Supporting incident response, near-miss investigations, and corrective implementation.
- Conduct job brief observations, field safety audits, and routine safety walkdowns to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Monitor PPE usage, switching, grounding, tagging practices, and minimum approach distances (MAD). Observe equipment operations, including cranes, digger derricks, pullers, and tensioners, to promote safe work practices.
- Ensure proper traffic control, public safety measures, and crew work/rest practices are followed.
- Assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Participate in lessons learned and project review meetings.
- Support completion of project safety documentation and reporting.
- Recommend continuous improvements to field safety processes and contractor performance.
Requirements for the Transmission Safety Consultant:
- Previous electrical utility transmission safety experience.
- Experience supporting transmission construction, transmission maintenance, and contractor safety oversight.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910.269, the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and utility transmission construction practices.
- Ability to work extended hours in active construction environments.
- Strong field presence with the ability to coach crews.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
- Preferred certifications include OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, CHST, STSC, CUSP, CSP, and First Aid/CPR/AED.
