One Tech Engineering is searching for an Environmental Scientist for a position located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Environmental Scientist will be coordinating with project teams on a variety of tasks, including completion of field surveys, environmental permitting with federal, state, and local agencies, and review of necessary project reports and materials.

The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a degree in environmental science, environmental planning, biology, ecology, or a related field and 4 years of related experience.

Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.

Environmental Scientist Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with contractors, PMs, and clients regarding project schedule, permit status, and all pre-, current, and post-construction permit and work order needs.
  • Review process and ensure that compliance and necessary updates are made known to all stakeholders.
  • Must be available when necessary to advise contractors, engineers, and project managers.
  • Daily interfacing with various agencies to obtain approvals, submit permit applications, and prepare responses in a timely manner.
  • Applying technical and creative solutions to environmental/non-environmental permitting.
  • Advising clients and team members of appropriate strategies to obtain permits and maintain compliance with regulations and permit conditions.
  • Managing work within budget and schedule expectations for each project.
  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the Environmental Scientist:
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, environmental planning, biology, ecology, or a related field from an accredited program is required.
  • Minimum 4 years of related professional experience is required (consulting preferred).
  • Knowledge of regulations and permitting requirements for wetlands, threatened and endangered species, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits, stormwater and erosion & sediment control, cultural resources and architectural history, the National Environmental Policy Act, and state and local municipalities.
  • Knowledge of transmission, distribution, and substation construction schedules and workload preferred.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate with a team.
  • Ability to manage in a dynamic team environment, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and work effectively and professionally with various audiences (i.e., regulators, public officials, clients, etc.).
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
  • Proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ArcGIS Pro).
