One Tech Engineering is searching for a Railroad Permitting Specialist for a position located in Morristown, New Jersey. The Railroad Permitting Specialist will coordinate with project managers, design engineers, environmental consultants, GIS mapping specialists, and real estate coordinators to prepare permit applications for railroad permitting to facilitate construction impacts related to transmission line and substation expansion projects.
The candidate must be a U.S. citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or a related natural science degree and 4 years performing environmental and permitting studies, preparing permitting applications and analyzing environmental data for various environmental impact projects.
Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.
Railroad Permitting Specialist Responsibilities:
- Complete and submit permit applications, and pursue the application through the timeframe until the permit is issued or authorized.
- Obtain permitting authorizations for all crossings related to linear transmission line projects, including but not limited to: railroad crossings and turnpike crossings.
- Obtain entry and access permits.
- Support environmental permitting tasks if requested.
- Support fiber and communication permitting tasks if requested.
- Interact with construction contractors for electrical transmission lines, fiber, road building, foundations, geotechnical, survey, and restoration with respect to permitting needs and have an understanding of railroad permitting compliance.
- Support Client needs as directed.
- Assist with document research.
- Provide assistance to client on electrical distribution projects.
Requirements of the Railroad Permitting Specialist:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or a related natural science degree from an accredited program and 4 years performing environmental and permitting studies, preparing permitting applications, and analyzing environmental data for various environmental impact projects.
- Or a Master's Degree in Environmental Science or a related natural science degree from an accredited program, and 3 years performing environmental and permitting studies, preparing permitting applications, and analyzing environmental data for various environmental impact projects.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of working with diverse skill sets in fast paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Team player focused on Client service.
- Excellent Time Management Skills.
- Well-organized and able to simultaneously pursue and track multiple project permitting efforts
- Valid driver’s license required.
