One Tech Engineering is searching for a Distribution Designer Assistant for a position located in Kansas City, Missouri. The Distribution Designer Assistant will be responsible for designing and developing construction work packages for electric distribution projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a minimum of three years of experience in electric utility distribution design.

Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.

Distribution Designer Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and material lists for overhead and underground electric distribution projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis of poles, conductor sizing, voltage drop, and transformer sizing.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to client standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements including the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to meet project objectives and deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications to various agencies.
  • Process information collected during site visits to gather information and verify field conditions to be used for design activities.
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any design-related issues that may arise.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, from initial assignment to completion.

 

Requirements of the Distribution Designer Assistant:
  • An associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, drafting, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in electric utility distribution design.
  • Must have distribution experience.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, GIS software, and other design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of electric distribution infrastructure and construction techniques.
  • Familiarity with NESC and other relevant industry standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently.
