One Tech Engineering is searching for an Electrical Distribution Safety Consultant for a position located near Amarillo, Texas. The Electrical Distribution Safety Consultant will provide field-based safety leadership and oversight for electric distribution construction, maintenance, and system improvement projects. This role supports contractor crews, supervisors, and utility representatives to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OSHA, NESC, and utility-specific safety requirements.

This position requires strong distribution safety experience, the ability to work in fast-paced field environments, and a hands-on, field-oriented approach. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with linemen, contractor leadership, utility representatives, and executive stakeholders.

Electrical Distribution Safety Consultant Responsibilities:


  • Support development and review of distribution project safety plans
  • Assist with contractor onboarding, safety orientation, and expectations
  • Review and verify Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), tailboards, and daily safety briefing
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 1910.269, NESC, and utility safety standards
  • Provide on-site field safety oversight for distribution construction and maintenance activities
  • Conduct job brief observations, safety audits, and field walkdowns
  • Serve as a safety liaison between utility leadership, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Support incident response, near-miss reporting, and corrective action tracking
  • Assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Participate in project reviews and lessons learned meetings
  • Support closeout of project safety documentation and reporting

Requirements of the Electrical Distribution Safety Consultant:


  • Electrical utility distribution safety experience (Construction, Maintenance, or Contractor Oversight)
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910.269, NESC and utility distribution construction and maintenance practices
  • Ability to work long hours in active construction and high-risk environments
  • Strong field presence; able to engage crews without being a "safety cop"
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain, neighborhoods, ROWs, and active roadways
  • Ability to work extended shifts based on project demands
  • Willingness to travel and remain on-site for the duration of assigned projects

Preferred Qualifications


  • Prior experience providing contractor safety oversight on distribution projects
  • Experience with overhead and underground distribution systems
  • Former lineman, distribution technician, or utility field professional
  • Experience working in urban, suburban, and rural public environments
  • Certifications includingOSHA 10 or 30 (ET&D preferred), CHST, STSC, CUSP, CSP, or equivalent, First Aid / CPR / AED and flagging or traffic control certification
