One Tech Engineering is searching for an Electrical Distribution Engineer for a position located in Elk River, Minnesota. The Electrical Distribution Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and optimizing electric distribution infrastructure while providing critical technical and analytical support to ensure system reliability and efficiency.

The candidate must be a US citizen or hold a green card. The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 2 years of related engineering experience.

Electrical Distribution Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical and analytical support for the construction, operation, and maintenance of distribution and transmission assets.
  • Assist with project management for system construction and improvement projects.
  • Assist with development of short- and long-range distribution system planning studies, system reports, fault current protection and fuse coordination studies, power quality studies, and load growth studies.
  • Maintain current engineering planning studies, reports, substation drawings, and documentation of substations and other utility facilities.
  • Identify, collect, analyze, and interpret data sets from AMI technology to identify trends, recommend process improvements, and solve problems.
  • Manage and track all reliability statistics and file-related reports.
  • Coordinate work with developers, contractors, customers, and staff.
  • Maintain GIS mapping systems for electric and water departments, including GPS/GIS data collection, integration, and system modeling of the distribution system.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of distribution system equipment and infrastructure.
  • Maintain the Outage Management System (OMS), train personnel in system operation, assist with accurate outage record-keeping, and review outage records to support system reliability planning.
  • Assist with outage management activities via SCADA, OMS, and AMI systems.
  • Assist with the overall design and planning of electrical distribution system facilities.
  • Assist with the design and staking of system improvements, upgrades, modifications, new line extensions, and pole replacements.
  • Prepare cost estimates for overhead and underground construction, maintenance, and system improvement projects.
Requirements of the Electrical Distribution Engineer:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and atleast 2 years of related engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution system design, operation, substations, and GIS.
  • Experience with data analytics.
  • Proficient with various computer programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to make decisions within policy and position parameters.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred:
  • SEL acSELerator software experience.
  • Utility-related ESRI software experience.
  • OSI SCADA/SEL HMI software experience.
  • NISC software experience.
  • NERC compliance experience.
  • AutoCAD and/or ArcView software experience.
  • Knowledge or experience with distributed energy resources.
